Suffolk Barn at Hawstead Place
The Suffolk Barn sits in a unique position on a southern slope within the ancient parkland of Hawstead Place just 2 miles south of Bury St Edmunds. The barn retains all the original character from its past and is available to use for wedding receptions and civil ceremonies, parties and all types of business and private events.
The barn has a huge timber frame and is traditionally clad. It has a unique setting with large threshing doors opening South and East onto historic parkland with stunning views, adjoining the parkland are ancient fishponds, a moat and additional historic features.
Suffolk Barn dates back to 1423 and was constructed in its day as a courtyard in front of one of the county’s grandest houses.
The entrance and drive way is lined with an avenue of lime trees and opens out into ancient parkland populated with the three largest oriental plane trees in England, planted by Elizabeth I in August 1578.
My husband and I chose Suffolk Barn to have our Autumn themed wedding back in October 2019 and honestly couldn’t have had a more beautiful venue.
It was nice and private, plenty of space to host all of our guests. It felt like with very little effort you can make the barn into whatever theme you want, which is good when planning something like a wedding!

At Suffolk Barn we are able to offer bespoke wedding and event packages. We can provide all the services you may need for your event including food and beverage, DJ and entertainment and even the flowers in an all-inclusive package. Or you can pick and choose individual elements as required.
Here at Hawstead Place Events we know and understand that each event is unique and individual. We take great pride in ensuring this is the case for all our hosts and guests whatever their planned celebration or event.
